The United Kingdom joined the United States in a fresh wave of airstrikes against Yemen’s Houthi rebels, marking its first involvement in America’s intensified Operation Rough Rider campaign under the Trump administration. The UK Ministry of Defense stated Royal Air Force Typhoon jets targeted a drone manufacturing site 15 miles south of Sanaa with Paveway IV bombs. Conducted at night to limit civilian risk, the strike aimed to counter threats to Red Sea shipping routes.

UK Defense Secretary John Healey cited a 55% drop in shipping traffic, costing billions and risking economic stability. While the U.S. has carried out over 800 strikes since March, it has provided limited details. This joint strike follows a controversial alleged U.S. attack on a migrant detention center that killed 68 people. The Houthis, who have controlled Sanaa since 2014, reported multiple strikes across the capital and Saada. The U.S. Central Command has yet to comment.
