Trump Calls Himself “Acting President of Venezuela” in Truth Social Post After US Seizes Maduro

U.S. President Donald Trump posted a photo on his Truth Social platform labeling himself as “Acting President of Venezuela, Incumbent January 2026,” alongside his titles as the 45th and 47th U.S. President. The image appears to reference recent U.S. action against Venezuela.

Earlier this month, the U.S. carried out what it described as a “large-scale” strike on Caracas, capturing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and flying them to New York, where they now face narco-terrorism conspiracy charges.

Trump said the United States will “run Venezuela” until a safe transition can occur, arguing no one else should take control without Venezuelans’ interests in mind.

Meanwhile, Venezuela’s vice president and oil minister, Delcy Rodríguez, was sworn in as interim president last week.

Trump also claimed interim authorities will hand over 30–50 million barrels of high-quality oil to the U.S., with proceeds controlled by his administration to benefit both nations.
