Former U.S. President Donald Trump has linked his renewed push to mediate the Russia-Ukraine conflict with a deeply personal goal—earning a place in heaven. Speaking to Fox & Friends on August 19, Trump explained that his motivation extends beyond politics. “If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed, I think that’s pretty… I want to try to get to heaven if possible,” he remarked, adding humorously that he currently sits “at the bottom of the totem pole.”

Trump likened his efforts to his previous role in easing tensions between India and Pakistan, which he claimed helped prevent escalation to nuclear conflict. His spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, emphasized that the comments were not a joke, noting that Trump views diplomacy as both a duty and a spiritual calling.
