A tragic shooting unfolded Monday inside a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper at 345 Park Avenue, home to major firms like Blackstone, KPMG, Deutsche Bank, and the NFL headquarters. A 27-year-old man from Las Vegas, reportedly wearing a bulletproof vest and armed with an AR-style rifle, opened fire inside the tower, critically injuring a police officer and a bystander. Law enforcement sources later confirmed that five people, including the NYPD officer and the suspected gunman, were killed. The gunman is believed to have died by suicide after barricading himself on the 32nd floor.

New York Mayor Eric Adams confirmed “multiple injuries,” while Police Commissioner Jessica Disch stated the threat had been “neutralized.” A photo released by authorities showed the suspect entering the building with a rifle. Preliminary background checks revealed no significant criminal history. The incident remains under investigation as the city grapples with the shocking violence in its financial core.
