On Sunday evening, a powerful tornado was spotted near Sherman, Texas, prompting widespread concern as severe weather alerts expanded across the state. Videos posted by residents and storm chasers revealed intense thunderstorms and wind speeds reaching up to 90 mph. One forecaster reported a “strong tornado ongoing” north of Sherman, near Dallas.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 399, effective until 4:00 AM CDT, covering 54 counties across Texas, including Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant. A separate warning was issued for Haskell, Jones, and Fisher counties until 11:15 PM CDT.
The storms brought 60 mph winds and golf ball-sized hail, threatening homes, vehicles, and trees. Major cities like Fort Worth and Abilene, along with rural counties like Comanche and Somervell, were affected. The watch also extended into Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Residents were urged to seek interior shelter immediately to stay safe.
