Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his Saudi Arabia visit and returned to India early Wednesday after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. At least 28 tourists, including two foreign nationals, were killed, and several others were critically injured in a brutal shooting at a meadow near the tourist hotspot.

Upon his return, PM Modi held urgent discussions with NSA Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He also took up the matter with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who condemned the attack and offered support to India.
Eyewitnesses said the terrorists targeted tourists based on their religion before opening fire. Victims include five from Maharashtra, one from Odisha, and a naval officer from Haryana on his honeymoon.
In a post on X, Modi condemned the attack, extended condolences, and assured swift justice: “Those behind this heinous act will not be spared.”
