JOURNEY OF THE AUTHOR SHERYL ROTHERT
SHERYL ROTHERT

As a former Home Economics teacher and Financial Advisor, Sheryl Rothert knew there had to be a better way to purchase groceries that would yield more savings for her family to save and invest money for important future needs. Buying groceries is actually one area where it is the buyer’s control. The buyer really does get to decide what goes into the grocery cart and comes home in the grocery bag!

In order to get that result, a plan needed to be in place, and it also needed to be easy. The incentive of seeing the savings grow, with compound interest, also helps to stay with the plan in order to achieve significant results. Easy plan, easy system………..great results. Sheryl wanted to share this system with others, so needed to write a book, hence the sharing with you all now! Along the path to producing the book, Sheryl checked with nutritionists, financial advisors, and regular busy people who needed guidelines. Sheryl wanted to make sure that her plan could easily be followed by anybody. Sheryl’s ultimate goal is that more people will have ample savings for their family’s benefit, they will have health to enjoy those savings and they will have more time to enjoy it all!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW OF AUTHOR SHERYL ROTHERT WITH DE MODE

Q: Your book, "Found: Health, Wealth, and Time in a Grocery Bag," offers a comprehensive guide to healthy eating, saving money, and optimizing time. What inspired you to combine these three crucial aspects into one impactful resource?

A. I found that when I focused on saving money at the grocery store, improved health was the bonus, and because my own family was very busy with both parents working, and two daughters busy with school, plus sports, we needed the plan I devised to be one that was most time-efficient!

Q: The concept of saving money while prioritizing health is intriguing. Could you share some key strategies from your book that readers can implement to achieve this balance in their lives?

A. One strategy in particular that saves money is to be aware of the portions we are eating >>> people often do eat the healthy foods they need, but eat too much of it, or it gets wasted >>> we need to be more mindful of how we store food and for how long.

Q: Your book emphasizes the importance of planning and efficient grocery shopping. How did your background as a former Home Economics teacher contribute to developing the system outlined in your book?

A. I knew the nutrition of food >>> what foods to eat and in what portions! Being a teacher, I was mindful in the writing of my book, knowing that how I presented the information would have a great bearing on the reading, processing, and acceptance of the information! I became more conscious of the prices of foods, sticking to a grocery list and watching my timing when I shopped >>>> it is not the best idea to shop at 5:30 in the afternoon!

Q: The idea of saving $50-$200 per month through your strategies is compelling. What are some common misconceptions people have about grocery shopping and budgeting that the book aims to address?

A. A common misconception is that it is just groceries and we need food, so surely it can’t be that big a deal what we spend on our food! There is so much more spent on food than needs to be! A sale also does not mean that we need to buy a whole bunch of chickens to take up space in our freezer!

Q: The book's subtitle mentions time as well. How do your methods contribute to time savings for readers, especially in our fast-paced world?

A. Each step we take will save money and add up together, the steps will save a significant amount of money each month.

Q: Your journey from Home Economics teacher to Financial Advisor is intriguing. How did your background in these fields uniquely equip you to create a holistic resource like "Found"?

A. Home Economics first led to my start in creating my system. Then I developed my hypothesis that money saved from groceries can grow with compound interest to create retirement savings after all those working years of buying groceries. I spent a lot of time with financial advisors to be sure that my hypothesis was correct. Then I wanted to help people with their financial plans to show that anyone can invest money and anyone can have money to invest. So, I began the journey to learn more about the financial advising/investing world and took the necessary tests to become certified.

Q: "Found" encourages readers to adopt a new perspective on grocery shopping and meal planning. What mindset shifts do you believe are essential for readers to fully embrace your system?

A. Being organized really helps and I know some people who don’t really want to be organized! They just like to go with the flow, figure it out when they get there, etc. That really adds to the total of a monthly food bill! That is why I wanted to be sure the plan was as easy as possible, to be sure it wasn’t hard to follow!

Q: Your system emphasizes the concept of intentions. How do you guide readers in aligning their intentions with the practical steps outlined in your book to achieve their goals?

A. Showing how much money can grow with compound interest was something I wanted to make sure was in my book, to give the incentive to stay with the system.

It is crucial for our financial futures that we invest our savings to let Compound Interest help it grow for the future, saving each month will grow more>>> many people think they don’t have money to invest >>> if they plan their groceries, using the steps I have outlined, they will have savings to invest in a very simple way. The earlier they start this plan, the more time they will have for the money to grow. From all the working years of buying groceries, they will be saving and investing each month. By the time they are ready to retire, they could easily have $1.5 million in funds accumulated.

Q: As an author, what do you hope readers will take away from the book?

A. I hope that people will have more savings for their family’s benefit, they will have improved health to enjoy those savings and they will have more time to enjoy a healthy wealthy life! Mental health is also a benefit, not just physical!
