CP Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India on Friday at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, with President Droupadi Murmu administering the oath. The ceremony was attended by several political leaders, including Chief Ministers Mohan Charan Majhi (Odisha), N. Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh), Mohan Yadav (Madhya Pradesh), Governors Thaawarchand Gehlot (Karnataka), Gulab Chand Kataria (Punjab and Chandigarh Administrator), and Santosh Gangwar (Jharkhand).

Radhakrishnan, the NDA’s nominee, won the election held on Tuesday with 452 votes, defeating Opposition candidate and former Supreme Court judge B. Sudershan Reddy, who secured 300. Out of 781 MPs, 767 voted, marking a turnout of 98.2%. Of the 752 valid ballots, the majority required was 377. While the NDA had the support of 427 MPs on paper, additional backing from YSRCP and unexpected cross-voting gave Radhakrishnan 14 votes more than projected. Thirteen MPs, including from BJD, BRS, SAD, and one Independent, abstained.
